Feather dusters don’t remove dust: FACT!

• Feather dusters just push the dust around and do not adhere to it. For better dusting, try microfiber or lambswool dusters that adhere to the dust. You can also use a wet cloth or vacuum to remove dust from surfaces that the dust tends to linger on.

Vinegar is an all-purpose cleaner: MYTH!

• Like bleach, vinegar isn’t an all-purpose cleaner. Vinegar is great for removing grease and limescale, but it should avoid granite counters and wooden floors. When using vinegar to clean, it should really only be used in the kitchen. Most commonly, vinegar is used to clean kitchen sinks, floors, greasy stovetops and other kitchen appliances, pots and pans, etc.

Air fresheners helps clean the air: MYTH!

• Air fresheners only perfumes the air but doesn’t purify the air. To clean your air, use an air purifier or air-purifying plants such as gardenias or African violets. Air fresheners can be a good thing to use in your home to ensure that the area smells good for guests, but should not be used as a substitute for cleaning.

Cleaning solutions take time to act: FACT!

• Typically cleaning solutions take 2-3 minutes to take effect but read the product’s label and follow the directions. It varies product to product, cleaners vs. disinfectants for example differ in the amount of time they take to work.

Residential and Commercial cleaning are the same: MYTH!

• Residential cleaning is just cleaning the residential space, whereas commercial cleaning is maintaining hygiene for workplaces, stores, etc. The products used may also vary depending on the type of commercial space. i.e. hotels will be like residential, where as a mechanic will use stronger products to remove grease, oil, gas, etc. from the space.
